paradise :: 10.25.08
I took this photo at the base of an active volcano. Ken and I had just finished a hike all the way to the top and
back down again and stopped to marvel at the beauty. The water was so blue and the sky was so clear! We sailed
for a little while, then jumped off the boat into the ocean for a vigorous swim. It was soooooo refreshing...

Rumor has it that Oia (a tiny village on Thera) has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Ken took this
photo as we enjoyed apple crumble pie a la mode at a rooftop cafe.

update on my dad :: 10.15.08
Many of you know that my dad underwent cancer surgery recently. The doctor is confident that he was able to remove
all the cancer cells, so that is good news. However, my dad has been having some other issues and was recently diagnosed
with spinal stenosis. My dad is in a great deal of pain. He has been falling down a lot and drops everything he tries
to carry. He has been wearing a heart monitor and he is having an MRI done on his brain in a couple days. After
that, he will be having another surgery that will hopefully reduce his pain and the spasticity.
It breaks my
heart to see my dad in this much pain. He is only 55 and should be enjoying his retirement rather than spending it in
pain. Please keep my family in your thoughts. I'll keep you all updated.

Stefani and Matt :: 10:14.08
Alrighty, Stef, I know you have been checking my blog like every day since you said "I do," so here's your
post! Thanks for your patience -- I hope it was worth the wait.
Stefani and Matt were married on
a gorgeous summer day on the south side of Indianapolis. Their ceremony was incredibly sweet and had a surprise twist.
The officiant had asked Stefani and Matt to each write a couple paragraphs explaining their love for the other. Neither
Matt nor Stefani saw what the other had written and no one knew these words would be read out loud at the ceremony.
When the officiant read those intimately honest words out loud, I do not think there was a dry eye in that church! Their
reception was also blast and included some wicked breakdancing!!! (Scroll down and you'll see what I'm talking
about.)
Now, on to the details. First, some gorgeous shoes...

My good friend and fellow photographer, Jake, shot the rings this time. I love this!

Stef's beautiful bouquet.

How can you go wrong with black and white getting ready photos? It's so classic. Stef, you are gorgeous.
Meanwhile, Matt was getting ready down the hall. (I walked in on the guys in their underwear and I think
I startled some of them!)
The dress.
Almost ready!!!
While Stef was finishing up, I took Matt outside for a few relaxed portraits.

And I caught some great moments with Matt and his daughter! She's a doll.

Told ya.

She is soooo pretty.
Jake caught this moment during the ceremony with his sniper lens.

Just married!!!

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite from the day. This should definitely go on a large wrapped canvas!
Do it!!!

I love the light here...

You all know this as my standard shot. After seeing it so many times, wedding clients actually request it!
I love that!!!

I was totally in a black and white mood. Bring it in really tight, guys and gals!

Florals at the reception...
Yummy.

I LOVE this shot of the father/daughter dance. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It evokes so much emotion.

I told you there was some crazy dancing going on!

Wow!

And the new Mr. and Mrs. are off!

Stef and Matt, you two were such a joy to wrok with. Stef, I love your enthusiasm for life. Matt, I adore
how much you love Stef. Thanks again for having Jake and me at your wedding!

voice mail :: 10.12.08
Since I was robbed, I had to purchase a new cell phone. It has come to my attention that I am unable to retrieve
any voice mail messages left for me October 1 through October 11, 2008, as they were connected with my previous SIM card.
If you left a message for me during this time frame, please accept my apology for not responding. My new voice mail
is now up and running, so feel free to give me a call or send me an email. Thanks again for your patience while I sort
this out!

Robbed! :: 10.11.08
Well, I told you all my favorite story from our Greece trip -- now it's time for the really CRAZY story!
Ken
and I had planned to spend all but one day of our Greece vacation on the islands. The day before we were supposed to
fly back to the U.S., we took a little plane over to Athens so we could explore the ruins there.
Once we
arrived in Athens, we realized we were tired from hiking up a mountain to Ancient Thera and also an active volcano (more on
that later) and we contemplated not hiking up to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon. After a 2 hour nap, we decided
we should probably head out and see the city.
We walked around Syntagma Square to see Parliament, the gardens, Ancient
Olympia, and more. We then made our way through the Plaka and began the trek to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon.
Of course we took pictures of everything! (I'll post those later.) It was so amazing to see the history there.
After a day of walking around Athens and finally reaching the Acropolis, we both stopped and sat on a rock to marvel
at the sunset and the city below. We took off our backpacks and set them between us at our feet. Ken stepped away
to take some photos and I watched the changing of the guards for about 15 seconds. When I went to grab my backpack,
it was gone. A thief had gotten away with all of my money, credit cards, IDs, cell phone, and PASSPORT (as well as a
few other personal items).
Of course I freaked out. Who wouldn't?!?! There I was in a foreign country
with no ID, no passport, and no access to any money. It was like I didn't exist! I had visions of being stranded
in Greece. It was scary!!!
I was hysterical all the way to the police station. Let me tell you, the Greek
police are a tad bit corrupt and were no help whatsoever.
Ken and I caught a cab and spent almost
the whole night at the U.S. Embassy. That was quite an experience. The next day, after a lot of negotiating and
screaming and crying on my part, the Embassy finally issued me an emergency passport so I could get home.
Now
I'm trying to get my life organized again. I kept my calendar in my Blackjack II, so as you can imagine, I am a
bit disheveled right now! The bright side of this is that when the thief stole my phone, he gave me a good excuse to
buy the new iPhone (which I totally love, by the way).
Here is a photo of our view of the city from the crime scene...err...the
Acropolis.

Regular blog posts will resume soon. Matt and Stef - you are up next!
Stay tuned for more Greece
stories and photos...

I'm back... :: 10.10.08
...and I have LOTS of stories for you! However, my favorite story from our trip goes a little something like this.
Meet
Ken -- the super sweet and incredibly hot guy pictured below.

We hiked up to Ancient Thera, which is on the top of a mountain on Santorini Island in Greece. We could see almost
the whole island from the top of the mountain!

On top of that mountain, Ken asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! Check out my sweet "Ritani
Endless Love" ring.

It is so me!!!

Now it's back to work for me! If you have a question about the status of your photos, shoot me an email and
I will give you a realistic date. I'm working as fast as I can -- I promise! (Remember, I am basically a one
woman show and this summer was crazier than usual.)
